How bounce protection keeps your email accounts safe

Swyftreach pauses a campaign when 5 emails in a row bounce, holds it for 12 hours and alerts you. Learn how it works, what to fix, and how to resume safely.

A bounce is an email that couldn't be delivered, usually because the address doesn't exist. A few bounces are normal. A run of them tells Gmail and Outlook that you're mailing a bad list, and they start sending your future emails, even good ones, to spam. Bounce protection stops that from happening while you're not watching, including overnight.

How it works

  1. Every time an email bounces, Swyftreach looks at the campaign's last 5 sends.
  2. If all 5 bounced, the campaign is paused straight away and nothing else goes out.
  3. The campaign goes on a 12-hour safety hold. During the hold it can't be resumed.
  4. You get an in-app notification and an email, and the campaign page shows a red banner with a countdown.

What counts as "in a row"

  • Sends are checked in the order they went out, so bounces that come back a few minutes late still count.
  • One good delivery breaks the run. Five bounces spread between successful sends won't pause the campaign.
  • Temporary failures, such as a full mailbox or a busy server, don't count until they repeat enough to become a real bounce.
  • Addresses already on the bounce list are skipped before sending, so they never reach a mailbox and don't count.

Use the hold to fix the cause

  • Clean the contact list: remove old, guessed or role addresses (info@, sales@) and verify the list if you bought or scraped it. Bounced contacts are already excluded from future sends.
  • Check the sending account: open Email Accounts and make sure it's still connected and hasn't been blocked or suspended by its provider.
  • Run a Spam Score check to confirm SPF, DKIM and DMARC are in place and your domain isn't blacklisted.
  • You can edit the campaign during the hold, including its lists and senders.

Resume after the hold

  1. Wait for the 12-hour hold to end. The Resume button shows the time left and unlocks on its own.
  2. Choose Resume (or Save & resume in the editor).
  3. Type continue in the confirmation box and confirm.

Protection starts counting again from zero when you resume, so bounces from before the pause can't trigger it a second time. If the next 5 sends bounce too, it pauses again with a fresh 12-hour hold.
